Surgery Aftercare FAQ’s Answered
Surgery Aftercare FAQ’s Answered:
- Keep your pet in a warm, dry, quiet place, away from other pets and children for at least 24 to 48 hours.
- Your pet may or may not want to eat or drink the first night following surgery. Offer half the usual amount of food and water and monitor your pet's appetite. If any vomiting occurs, please contact us.
- Discourage your pet from running, jumping, and or rough play for five days.
- Check your pet's incision daily. A little lump or redness is normal. However, if there is bleeding, discharge, or gaping, please contact us.
- Absolutely no swimming, baths, or playing in water or mud is allowed for 7 days.
- Although most pets are not bothered by their incision, a few want to lick or chew at their incision, which may cause infection. We recommend using an E-Collar to prevent your pet from doing so.
